Performance | Neue Wache, Berlin, Germany | 2015
In this work, I performed the “In Case of an Emergency” movements, in a choreography influenced by pre-flight safety demonstrations, in front of the Neue Wache in Berlin. By performing it at this specific site, which functions today as the Central Memorial of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Victims of War and Dictatorship, I’ve questioned and critiqued what we assume our responsibility is for the current victims in these crucial times of emergency in relation, and perhaps contrast, to the well institutionalized memory of victims of past wars.
